Peter Roscoe, a former restaurateur and Astoria city councilor, has filed for the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners position held by Lisa Clement.

Clement, who owns Clemente’s Seafood with her husband, Gordon, said she does not know yet whether she will run for re-election in District 3.

Roscoe opened Fulio’s Pastaria in Astoria in 2003 and sold it last year to his longtime manager. He served on the Astoria City Council from 2005 until 2013, when he was replaced by Drew Herzig.

“In researching my decision to file for this position, it came to my attention that there are a wide range of opportunities that we have not been exploring as a community,” he said in announcing his candidacy. “We seem to get stuck on the same issues and let them become political footballs. I hope to bring a more moderate voice to the table that will allow us to move forward past these decisions and allow us to grow as a region and let us come together as a group.”

Roscoe has been a member of the Columbia-Pacific Economic Development District, the Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association and the Columbia River Commercial Fishing Advisory Group.

Three of the positions on the county commission are up for re-election in May. Jewell resident Susana Gladwin has filed for District 5, held by Commissioner Lianne Thompson. Medical data analyst Andrew Davis has said he will run for District 1 to replace Scott Lee, the commission’s chairman, who announced last year he would not seek another term.
