Seaside Signal Seaside High School Drama presents Disney’s “Original High School Musical,” based on the Disney Channel original movie, “High School Musical.” Performances begin Feb. 23.

Troy Bolton, played by Jacob Brien, is the star basketball player for the East High Wildcats. Gabriella Montez, played by Annie Stafford, has just transferred to East High and hopes to escape her previous status as the smartest girl in school. After meeting at a singing competition over winter-break, both teens are fatefully reunited at school. They decide to pursue singing at school by auditioning for their school musical, but not everyone agrees that they should abandon what they are known for in order to sing. Their choice in changing up their interests launches the school into a social upheaval.

Stafford and Brien are supported onstage by Jake Herold, Ryanne Sunnell, Jack Stapleton, Chance Giguiere, Taylor Carson, Paige Anderson, Frida Ruff, Parker Fergus, Sam Henderson, Hayden Spratt, Holly Snook, Fernando Dzul Fisher and Crystal Rouse. Anita Barbic choreographed the show as her Pacifica Project.

Disney’s “Original High School Musical” is directed and produced by LeeAnn Schmelzenbach. Kimber Parker is the music director. The actors are joined by a live band and are excited to have an audience in the house.
