Award-winning authors Rene Denfeld and Willy Vlautin share the stage at Manzanita Writers’ Series, at the Hoffman Center for the Arts in Manzanita on Saturday May 19, at 7 p.m.

Rene Denfeld will read from her second novel, “The Childfinder.” Denfeld’s writing is inspired by her work with sex trafficking victims and innocents in prison. Denfeld was the chief investigator at a public defender’s office and has worked hundreds of cases. In addition to her advocacy work, she has been a foster adoptive parent for 20 years.

Willy Vlautin will read from his latest novel, “Don’t Skip Out on Me.” A moving story about a young man’s search for belonging, Vlautin’s fifth novel is an understated yet powerful exploration of identity and loneliness. Vlautin has published four other novels, “The Motel Life,” “Northline,” “Lean on Pete” and “The Free.” The movie “Lean on Pete,” filmed in Oregon, was released in April.

Admission for the evening reading is $7. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
