The Clatsop County Clerk and Elections Office will conduct a hand recount of ballots for Measure 92 ballots beginning Tuesday, following a statewide directive from the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office.

Statewide vote totals released last week show Measure 92 that would require labeling of genetically modified foods was losing by 809 votes and will go to an automatic recount.

The recount in Clatsop County will take place at the Judge Guy Boyington Building at 857 Commercial St. in Astoria.

The Oregon Secretary of State ordered the recount by all county elections offices after the final tally for Measure 92 found the difference between yes and no votes fell within the legal limit of one-fifth of 1 percent of the total vote that triggers an automatic recount, according to the county election’s office.
