The Astor Parents Club is holding a rummage sale at Astor Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The club is accepting community donations. The proceeds from the event will go to the school’s library, which is in need of books. Due to budget shortfalls at the state level, the library services’ budget has been reduced to $200, which only covers minor repairs and office supplies. The average age of library books in Astor’s library is 17 years old, and a recent analysis found that it would cost nearly $90,000 to bring the library up to date.
