Oregon State University’s Sea Grant program hosted Clatsop County’s first ever Fishermen’s Appreciation Lunch at Englund Marine & Industrial Supply Co. on Thursday. Amanda Gladics, with the Astoria Sea Grant office, estimated 40 to 50 people attended from across facets of the commercial fishing industry. There was no set agenda, she said. The lunch was intended to be simply a community gathering for fishermen, their families and others in the industry. The lunch was based off a similar annual event in Newport. Gladics hopes to make it into a tradition here, as well.
