The Western Building Material Association has given Jeff and Greg Newenhof, owners and operators of City Lumber Co. in Astoria, the Distinguished Dealer Award.

“The Newenhofs’ proudest legacy is their employees,” said a release from the association about the award. “They are proud to say that they have never laid off an employee for lack of work. Even during recessions and tough times when it would have made sense to lower the number of employees, the Newenhofs have kept everyone on staff.”

The Newenhofs became the fourth owners of the lumber store in 1975 when Jeff and Greg’s parents, Jerry and Nancy, bought the business, which dates back to 1904. The building material association was founded in 1903 and is the regional trade association in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
