An Astoria man allegedly robbed another man at gunpoint on Marine Drive Monday night.
John William Kelley, 39, of Astoria, was driving west on the road with a man and woman in the car. He then pulled over near the KFC restaurant.
Kelley allegedly then pointed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic weapon at the male passenger and demanded his wallet. After surrendering the wallet, Kelley told the man to get out of the car.
After speaking with witnesses, Astoria police identified Kelley as a suspect and arrested him at his home. Officers found a black paintball gun inside the residence, Interim Police Chief Geoff Spalding said.
The woman in the car denied having knowledge of the planned robbery, according to an affidavit.
Kelley has been charged with second-degree robbery. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Clatsop County Circuit Court later this month.
