Northwest Parenting offers parents, children and educators an opportunity to learn from “The Parenting Doctor” how to deal with complex feelings and help develop emotional intelligence.

Dr. Ann Corwin, the creator of an innovative toolkit to teach social and emotional skills, comes to Clatsop County on Tuesday, June 13, for a presentation of “Emotional Intelligence — Building a Child’s Overall Well-Being and Development.” Two programs are scheduled, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Seaside Public Library Community Room and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Astoria Public Library Flag Room.

Parents and kids in our community will have the opportunity to learn how to teach and express emotional intelligence through an innovative program called “Toddlers to Teens.” Each family will get a free kit they can use for kids from toddlers to preteens. Light refreshments will be provided and registration is appreciated; email or call 503-823-8673, ext. 2.

Northwest Parenting is a tri-county parenting education collaborative that serves Tillamook, Clatsop and Columbia counties. Funding for program work comes from the Oregon Parenting Education Collaborative, a statewide initiative that supports the delivery of high quality parenting education programs. Funding for this special training comes from the Northwest Regional Early Learning Hub, which works collaboratively to support coordinated systems that are child-centered, family-friendly, and linguistically appropriate and community-based to meet the needs of communities of Clatsop, Columbia and Tillamook counties.
