YAMHILL — The No. 1-ranked Seaside boys basketball team continued to cruise through their preseason schedule unchallenged, as the Gulls led 22-8 after one quarter on their way to an easy 77-55 win over Yamhill-Carlton Tuesday night.

Seaside — which had the best 1-2 punch in the state last year with Jackson Januik and Hunter Thompson — still has the best 1-2 punch at the 4A level, with juniors Chase Januik and Payton Westerholm, who combined for 45 points.

Januik scored 12 of his 25 in the fourth quarter, and Westerholm finished with 20.

The Gulls improve to 4-0, while the Tigers fall to 1-4.
