Pickup loses control on icy Highway 26

Two hospitalized after crash

A driver and a passenger received serious injuries after their 2003 Chevy pick-up truck lost control on icy roadway along Highway 26 and struck a fuel truck head on. On Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 4:30 p.m., the eastbound crossed both westbound lanes and hit the 2016 Kenworth semi-truck head on. The pickup caught fire and occupants were pulled out by passersby.

The Chevy then became engulfed in flames before the fire was extinguished by Elsie Fire.

The driver of the pickup was transported to Emmanuel Hospital in Portland by Medix with serious injuries and the passenger transported to OHSU by Life Flight. Both had serious injuries. The driver of the fuel truck was not injured.
