Trail’s End Gallery will be opening a new show on Saturday, Nov. 4, with a reception for the featured artist, Kathy Samsel from 2-5 p.m. This show is in conjunction with the Gearhart ArtWalk held the first Saturday of every month. Along with featured artist are new and old members displaying their original works of art.
Samsel, an accomplished sculptor, began sculpting in primary school with her beloved sticks of green, blue and red plasticine wrapped in tissue. She loved the texture and quietness that fell over the classroom as budding artists discovered the properties of clay. Upon graduating college, she entered the teaching profession where for the next 32 years she challenged her students with sculpture and photography assignments. One such lesson required them to make a likeness with a head form and clay over the weekend.
The show will be on through November and in addition to the gallery displaying original paintings in watercolor, oil, acrylic and pastel, browsers will find prints, photography, mixed media, cards and gifts in the gallery entrance.
The association offers free open studio to members in any media, and in addition workshops and classes in various media for all ages to all ages for a small fee throughout the year. The gallery is located in Gearhart at 656 A Street one block south of Pacific Way. For more information about TEAA, visit www.trailsendart.org; 503 717-9458.
