Krystal Lin, 14, and Kendy Lin, 17, students of Seaside piano teacher, Vicky McGath, earned high achievement awards for piano performances and ear training by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, England. They received the awards during the ABRSM’s examinations in Portland, May 18, 2018, by a judge from England. Each received a certificate from England, advancing them to the next graded levels.

Krystal received a distinction for Grade 2, with the second highest score out of the 50+ students who performed. Kendy received a high merit for Grade 4. Their exams consisted of playing three pieces, scales, arpeggios, sight reading, and a four-part aural test.

More than 500 examiners are sent from England to 93 countries each year to evaluate students in vocal and instrumental performances. The ABRSM is recognized as providing the international standards of measurement of musical achievement.

Krystal and Kendy are daughters of Simon and Maggie Lin of Gearhart, owners of the Great Wall Restaurant.
