NEWPORT — Two teams looking to rebound from tough seasons a year ago met on the field Friday night in Newport.
The result — the Seaside Gulls are back at full strength, while the struggles continue for Newport.
Seaside scored a 47-13 win over the Cubs, who were coming off an 0-7 season.
The Gulls piled up 266 rushing yards, with Alex Teubner leading the way. The junior gained 162 yards on 23 carries, and scored four touchdowns, as Seaside built a 31-7 halftime lead.
Astor Landwehr, Payton Westerholm and Duncan Thompson also ran for touchdowns, while Westerholm completed four passes to four different receivers for 51 yards.
Seaside continues nonleague play Friday at Clatskanie.
