Two programs headed for completely different seasons met on the field Friday night, Sept. 15, in Seaside.

And the results were predictable: Seaside 60, Yamhill-Carlton 6.

The game went into the 45-point mercy rule in the second quarter, with the Gulls tacking on two scores in the second half.

Seaside improves to 2-1, having scored 107 points in its two victories. Yamhill-Carlton falls to 0-3, and has been outscored 130-30 in the three games.

Nearly everything worked for the Gulls in Friday’s game. They racked up 397 yards in total offense, averaging 11.3 yards per play. Alex Teubner was the big ground-gainer, rushing for 160 yards on just seven carries (more than 22 yards per run).

Quarterback Payton Westerholm completed just 2-of-4 passes, both for touchdowns, including a 55-yarder to Duncan Thompson, and 16 yards to Teubner.

Gio Ramirez added 78 yards rushing on seven attempts, and scored on a 38-yard run.
