Lady Gulls fall to Yamhill-Carlton

Tigers defeat Gulls 52-25

YAMHILL — The No. 1-ranked Yamhill-Carlton Tigers came out on the plus side of a 56-point swing from last year’s meeting with Seaside, in a nonleague girls basketball game Tuesday night.

After losing last year’s game to the Gulls, 52-25, Yamhill-Carlton got even and then some, defeating Seaside 55-26 on the Tigers’ home floor.

Yamhill-Carlton improves to 5-0 overall, while the Gulls fall to 1-3.

A basket by Seaside’s Emy Kiser midway through the first quarter tied the game at 8-8, but a half-hour later, the Tigers held a 34-8 halftime lead.

Anesha Smart had six quick points to open the third quarter, in which the Gulls outscored Yamhill-Carlton 10-6.

Annaka Garhofer had eight points to lead Seaside, while Sadie Horne had 15 points for the Tigers, to go with 10 points apiece by Yamhill’s Megan Gaibler and Rebecca Whitchurch.
