TOKELAND — Pacific County Economic Development Council is inviting the public to voice their priorities for future directions in economic and tourism development in Pacific County. A series of community workshops will start Jan. 18 in Tokeland in the county’s northwest corner.

Community feedback will be incorporated into two plans to spur growth initiatives in Pacific County:

• An Overall Economic Development Plan (OEDP) to direct economic growth and;

• A Recreational Development Plan (RDP) to identify potential tourism and hospitality-related business opportunities and constraints.

These comprehensive development plans are intended to serve as road maps for future action by policy makers, grant funders, legislative priorities, education initiatives, investment targets and business champions, EDC said in a press release. Specific outcomes for these plans will include actions to better support growth and expansion of existing businesses, how to develop more industrial property, and how to encourage value-added processing and manufacturing.

Cultivating opportunities for tourism by developing the county’s recreation assets is another emphasis of this planning, the EDC said.

The public is invited to attend any and all forums — each from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. — on these dates and venues:

Jan. 18 in Tokeland at the Shoalwater Bay Tribal Community Center

Feb. 8 in Ilwaco at the Ilwaco Community Room, Ilwaco Library
