WARRENTON — Today is the start of the Lower Columbia Power Squadron bell ringing for the Salvation Army at Fred Meyer in Warrenton, for the 2017 Christmas Season. This is the 14th year that the local boating organization has been involved in this project. Over the years, the donations have increased from $5,000 to $12,000 in 2015, and $16,000 in 2016.
All bell ringers are volunteers, and more volunteers are needed. Bell ringing hours are from noon to 5 p.m. every day that volunteers are available; shifts are usually only two hours. All donations collected are banked locally, and only used in Clatsop County.
To volunteer, call Ronald Collman at 503-861-1368 or 503-440-1097.
