Ashley Schacher of Gearhart, daughter of Michael and Melissa Schacher of Gearhart, exchanged wedding vows with Spencer Johnston of Astoria at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, in the barn at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds in Astoria. The groom is the son of Brad Johnston of Redmond and Cindi Ariss of South Bend, Washington.
Rev. Dan Dunn, a close family friend, performed the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The bride’s sister, Megan Schacher, and Megan’s friend, Rowan Fay, played the flute before the ceremony.
Maid of honor was Megan Sparks of Astoria. Bridesmaids were Josephine Lyons of Harwood, Maryland, and Jaysea Williams, Elizabeth Roe, Morgan Postlewait and Victoria Kee, all of Astoria.
Best Man was Nicholas Ketcham of Astoria. Groomsman was Tyler Johnston of Warrenton, the groom’s brother. Ushers were Aimee Schacher, sister of the bride, and her fiancé, Nick Agalzoff.
Flower girls were Adele and Hannah Rogers of Hammond. Ring bearers were Brendan and William Rogers of Hammond. Adele is 5 years old; Hannah, Brendan and William are 2 1/2-year-old triplets.
The bride is a 2016 graduate of Astoria High School. She received an associate’s degree from Clatsop Community College in 2017, and is a student at Western Oregon University, pursuing a degree in psychology.
The groom graduated from Astoria High School in 2015. He also received an associate’s degree from CCC in 2017, and is pursuing a degree in paramedicine at Chemeketa Community College in Salem. He is employed by CAB Construction in Mount Angel.
A reception was held in the Exhibit Hall at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds. The bride’s father cooked barbecued brisket and chicken for almost 300 people. Flowers were provided by Little Island Flowers in Cathlamet, Washington. The photographer was the bride’s great-aunt, Kay Schacher, the wedding planner was the bride’s aunt, Shana Schacher, and the video was done by the maid of honor’s brother, Ethan Sparks. The DJ was Robby Morrissey, a cousin of the bride’s father.
The couple honeymooned by taking their restored 1965 Aristocrat trailer, “Otis,” around Oregon for two weeks. They now reside in Monmouth.
