SEASIDE — The Seaside Public Library, 1131 Broadway, presents a slide show, “Patch to Plate: Wild Mushroom Hunting,” with author Langdon Cook, at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Community Room. The event is sponsored by Friends of the Seaside Library.
Cook leads the audience through the mushroom identification process, and shows examples of yellow feet, spring porcini, black morels, Oregon white truffles and golden chanterelles. Cook thinks foraging is not just a throwback to a hunter-gatherer past, but a way to reconnect with the culinary landscape of the North Coast.
Cook was a senior book editor at Amazon.com until 2004, when he left the corporate world to live in a cabin off the grid with his wife and son. He is now a freelance writer and editor, and has written for several publications.
