Guests for this year’s ‘Trolley of Terror’ also are invited to explore the spooky side of the 1849 Monteith House.


TODAY

Spooky Species Camp, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Boy Scout Lodge, 1986 SW Allen St., Corvallis. Corvallis schools will be closed Oct. 25, so have your child age 5 to 10 spend the day at Avery House Nature Center’s camp and learn about bats, owls, spiders and mushrooms. Before-care is available at 8 a.m. and after-care is available till 5 p.m. Cost: $40 for the full day; additional care $6 per hour. Spooktacular Halloween Social, 12:30 p.m., Albany Senior Center, 489 NE Water Ave. Enjoy autumn cuisine, games and a masquerade mask-making craft.

Annual Children’s Community Halloween Party, 5 to 7 p.m. (note corrected time), Corvallis Elks Lodge, 1400 NW Ninth St. Activities will include apple bobbing, a costume contest, refreshments, music and more. Information: 541-758-0222.

Candlelit Tour of Monteith House Museum and Ride on the Trolley of Terror, 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m., Albany. The Monteith Society will host this experience of purportedly true ghost stories, some decidedly weird. The trolley, draped in black funeral buntings, will tour the haunted homes and businesses in Albany’s historic districts. Cost: $10 per adult, $5 per child. Halloween Party with the Crazed Weasels, 6 p.m., Downward Dog, 130 SW First St, Corvallis.

Teen Lock-In, 6:30 to 10 p.m., Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Ave. Activities will include watching scary movies, playing video and party games, costume makeup practice, slime-making, virtual reality games and making yarn balloon lanterns. Teens are invited to wear costumes, but no masks or real or fake weapons. Teens must turn in a release form to participate.

Greenberry Halloween Party, 7 p.m., Greenberry Store and Tavern, 29974 Highway 99, Corvallis. The party features a costume contest, fun drink specials and Matt Scruggs performing country songs live.

Haunted Barn, 7 to 10 p.m., 31000 Landlab Road, Lebanon. Proceeds support Future Farmers of America. Cost: $5 per person.

Haunted House, 7 to 11 p.m., Morningstar Grange, 38794 Morningstar Road NE, Albany. Proceeds benefit the Jefferson Fire Department Christmas Food Basket Program, the Albany Gleaners and the grange. Admission: $5 or five cans of food. Tickets are available for pre-purchase.

Summit's Spooktacular Funk Halloween Dance, 8:30 to 11:30 p.m., Summit Grange Hall, 19854 Summit Highway. Summit's Halloween "BOOgie" Costume Dance gets funky with Despite the Whiteness, a 10-piece horn and percussion band playing sweet groove music. Costume parade and treats. All ages, alcohol-free. All dance proceeds benefit the Summit Grange, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of National Granges. Admission: $7.

"Heckin’ Spooky: A Halloween Drag Show," 10 p.m., Cloud & Kelly’s Public House, 126 SW First St., Corvallis. Cover: $5.

VIP Ghost Hunt Experience, 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., Monteith House Museum, 518 SW Second Ave., Albany. Limited to 10 people. VIPs will be joined by experienced paranormal investigators and learn how to use ghost-hunting equipment. VIPs will then get to help conduct a paranormal investigation of Monteith House. SATURDAY

Downtown Trick or Treat and Costume Contest, 10 a.m., Albany Eagles Lodge, 127 NW Broadalbin St. Celebrate Halloween with safe and friendly trick-or-treating and a costume contest. Magician Jeff McMahon will perform before the contest starts. For the costume contest, age groups are 0-3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years and 10-12 years. One girl and one boy will be selected in each category. Trick-or-treating starts at 11 a.m. throughout downtown. Zombie Zoup Run, 10 a.m., starts at Jim Riggs Community Center, 880 18th Ave., Sweet Home. Runners and walkers are invited to participate in the only zombie run in the Willamette Valley. Easy 2-mile course through the south trail system and a covered bridge. "Survivors" will vote for the best zombie team, best zombie couple, best adult zombie, best teenage zombie and best child zombie; winners will receive awards from local merchants. Participants will receive a memento and free admission to the Great Community Soup Event. Proceeds will be used to purchase canopies, chairs and tables organizations can borrow for fundraising events in Sweet Home. All-you-can-eat soup and rolls served by local restaurants and cooks. Pies for sale, pumpkins to judge and activities for children. Proceeds will be used to purchase canopies, chairs and tables organizations can borrow for fundraising events in Sweet Home. Admission: $20 per family, $10 per individual.

The Haunting at the Majestic, 1 to 5 p.m., Majestic Theatre, 115 SW Second St., Corvallis. The theater will be transformed into a child-friendly haunted house experience featuring a guided tour of the 103-year-old haunted theater, a games room with activities and puzzles, treats and an opportunity for parents to take photos of the children with some of their favorite cartoon, movie and fantasy characters. Sick Town Derby Dames Home Bout: Sick or Treat, 5 to 7 p.m., Santiam Building, Linn County Fair and Expo, 3700 Knox Butte Road SE, Albany. The Sick Town Derby Dames return from construction hiatus with their first home bout in more than three years with live derby action vs. the Air Raid Roller Girls. Sick Town is working to repair its 97-year-old roller rink practice space north of Corvallis. This family-friendly event is all ages and will have food vendors, a beer garden, a Sick Town merchandise table, a halftime costume contest and more.
