Letter: Don’t disrespect our Olympic athletes

Published on March 7, 2018 8:34AM

The Washington Post asserted on the last day of the 2018 Winter Olympics that “With 23 medals, Team USA falls short of expectations at PyeongChang Olympics.” Perhaps there is one iota of truth for a nation with 350 million people in that statement. But I think that the person who wrote that has never worked half as hard as all our Olympic athletes who qualified to represent our country. And now, if they didn’t get a medal, they are insulted by some dunce. It is the media who build up the expectations to an infinite degree and drop the athletes ignominiously if they fail to perform. I will have none of that disrespect.
