SEASIDE — The Seaside Gulls jumped right back into the win column Tuesday afternoon, with a 72-47 victory over North Bend in a nonleague boys basketball game at the Gulls’ Nest.

Coming off a loss to Newport last Saturday in the championship game of the Holiday Classic, Seaside built a 12-5 lead early in Tuesday’s contest and never looked back.

Astor Landwehr, Rafi Sibony and Beau Johnson all had 3-pointers for the Gulls in the first half, which ended in a 35-21 lead.

The Gulls were short-handed with Ryan Hague out of the lineup, but still finished with four players in double figures.

Payton Westerholm led the way with 18 points, followed by Chase Januik (15), Duncan Thompson (12) and Sibony (10).

“We did a better job sharing the ball, played better defense, and we had some different guys step up and produce,” said Seaside coach Bill Westerholm. “And that’s going to help us in the long run. Astor (Landwehr) went from not playing in the championship game (of he Holiday Classic) to scoring nine points. And Rafi played well — that was his first 3-pointer of the season.”

Seaside hosts Marshfield Thursday.
