The Astoria Junior State baseball team opened summer play Tuesday night at Tapiola Park, where the Astoria Ford Fishermen defeated Clatskanie 5-1.
Dylan Junes pitched five innings of no-hit ball, with four strikeouts and one walk. Adam Feldman and Dylan Rush both pitched in relief, with Rush giving up the lone Clatskanie hit.
Astoria Ford scored two runs in the first inning, and added a run in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Will Reed and Balan Kolee each had two hits and a double to lead the Fishermen, while Ebin Hillard also had two hits.
“Our pitching and defense were both great, for having been off for so long,” said Astoria Ford coach Glen Fromwiller, whose team — with many of the same players — had not played since May 23.
The Fishermen are scheduled to play a doubleheader Thursday at Warrenton. The Warriors’ game Tuesday at Knappa was postponed.
