TOLEDO — The Knappa Loggers spent Friday night scoring touchdowns, and for the second year in a row, sent the game to a running clock against the Toledo Boomers in a nonleague football game.
After pounding Toledo 52-0 in 2017, Knappa rolled up a 70-28 win Friday, as the Loggers continue their climb up the 2A rankings.
Knappa quarterback Eli Takalo had six touchdowns rushing and two more passing, and the Loggers racked 654 yards in total offense.
Included were TD runs of 31 and 30 yards for Takalo, a 38-yard jaunt by Luke Goozee and a 29-yard dash for Kanai Phillip.
“Our line was really spectacular,” said Knappa coach Aaron Barendse.
Isaac Goozee, Jaxson Goodman, Kaleb Roe, Andrew Pederson and Dominic Rizzo helped the Loggers average over 10 yards per play.
Takalo had 18 carries for 184 yards rushing, and Luke Goozee added 150 yards on 15 carries.
Sparked by a big game from Spencer Teague, the Knappa defense shut down the Toledo run game.
The Loggers host Taft Friday.
