WARRENTON — Warrenton’s Fernanda Alvarez scored 18 points in 14 minutes of playing time, and the Warriors built a 40-11 halftime lead on their way to a 61-24 nonleague win Tuesday over visiting Naselle.
Claire Bussert added 12 points and Melia Kapua added 10, as Warrenton’s top three scorers combined for 40 points.
“Fernanda just dominated — they couldn’t guard her,” said Warrenton coach Robert Hoepfl, whose team improved to 4-0. “Claire played well as always, Maria Heyen did a great job (scoring nine points), and Avyree Miethe and Sagi Diego played some great defense out on the wings.”
Warrenton plays Friday at Neah-Kah-Nie, then hosts Santiam Christian Saturday, with a 6 p.m. tip-off at Clatsop Community College.
