Heatstroke:Dogs and cats have sweat glands only on their feet, so they can develop heat stroke fairly easily if they absorb more heat than can be released from their body.  The first symptoms you may notice are heavy panting or difficulty breathing and bright red gums or tongue.  Other symptoms may include vomiting, restlessness/lethargy, stumbling, collapse, or seizures.  If you feel your pet may be suffering from heat stroke, call your veterinarian immediately.  Organ damage can occur quickly when the body is at a high temperature for too long.
Visit our website at
www.SeasidePetClinic.com
for more details on these possibilities.
