James passed away on Sept. 17 in Round Rock, Texas.
He was born in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, and moved to Oregon in 1942. He graduated from Knappa High School and joined the Navy in 1955, retiring in 1975 as chief warrant officer. He moved to Poulsbo, Washington, and worked at Bremerton Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Helvi; sons Scott (Kathi), John (Cindy) and Tim (Laurie); daughter Teriko (Jeff); grandsons Joshua (Hannah) and Jeff (Tara); granddaughter Maggie; great-grandchildren Ender and Lily; and nieces and nephews.
Burial will be on Monday, Oct. 2, at 1 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. A memorial service/reception will follow at Lake Wilderness Lodge in Maple Valley, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of choice.
