Nov. 7, 1966 — Oct. 7, 2017
Beth Garnett, 51, passed on Saturday, Oct. 7, at home with family in Seaside following a valiant fight with complications of a 2016 brain surgery.
Beth was born Nov. 7, 1966, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Henry and Joan Milander. She is survived by her son, Max Milander, her daughter, Claire Mashlan, her son, Darren Garnett, her husband, Walt Garnett, and many friends.
A passionate mother, teacher and wife, Beth left an indelible impression on all those she met.
As a mother first and foremost, she raised three wonderful children in Max, Claire and Darren, who have all grown to be bright stars in their own right.
Having worked in multiple positions in multiple schools over the years, in 2014 she finally got the job she had always wanted, teaching foreign languages at Riverside High School in Boardman, Oregon. Being able to teach French and Spanish in regular classes, and German, Thai, Mandarin, Portuguese and others in an exploratory language class of her own design, she taught with a love of language that was beyond words in any of them. A devoted lifelong learner, she always sought more knowledge to impart to her students.
A memorial will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at Warrenton Christian Church at 6 p.m.
A memorial scholarship is being established in her honor. For further information, contact Walt Garnett at 98 10th St., Astoria.
