Bonnie C. Meyers of Seaside, Oregon, died Feb. 13, 2018, of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Seaside, Oregon. She was born in Napa, California, to Evelyn I. Thornton and Aubrey L. Stephenson on Oct. 7, 1938.
Bonnie and Robert I. Meyers, of Portland, Oregon, were married on Nov. 11, 1961, in Seattle. He died Sept. 22, 2011. Their children and spouses, Kerstin M. Groff (Brad) of Marietta, Georgia, and Stan S. Meyers (Sara Emig) of Kathleen, Georgia, and grandchildren, Kaya J. Groff, Benjamin A. Groff and John A. Meyers, survive. Her sister, Judith A. Wright, also survives. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Sarah M. Russell Gamer and Kathleen N. Leary.
Bonnie graduated from Seattle’s Queen Anne High School in 1957. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Washington. She was a sixth-grade teacher in Pocatello, Idaho, and retired from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, in 2000.
As a volunteer, she worked with the Girl Scouts, Northwest Regional Council for Children, VISTA as a supervisor, Latchkey as a program director, and demonstrated spinning at country fairs and historic sites.
Bonnie enjoyed her time with family and friends, reading, travel, fiber arts, photography and gardening. An amazing artist, a wonderful mother and friend to many, Bonnie will be sorely missed.
Arrangements have been made by Ocean View Cremation and Burial Service, and a private service is planned for a future date.
