Oct. 21, 1918 — April 5, 2018
Mary Greenberg Weinsoft was the middle child of Rose and Louis Puziss’ five children. Her siblings all predeceased her: Abe “Obbie,” Fran Browning, Goldie Barde and Irving “Babe.” They grew up on the Park Blocks in southwest Portland. She remembered when the trees in the parks were mere saplings.
In 1938, at the age of 19, she married Jerome (Jerry) Greenberg, and they settled in Astoria, where they joyfully raised four children: Michelle “Miki” Sholkoff (Stephen), Curt (Bev), Robert (Karen) and Barry (Lori).
Jerry passed away in 1976, and she moved back to Portland a year later, where she worked for Gevurtz Furniture.
In 1986, she married Ben Weinsoft, who passed in 1992. Mary is survived by eight of her nine grandchildren, and by 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral for Mary was held on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at 4 p.m., in Gevurtz Chapel at Ahavai Shalom Cemetery. Committal followed in Ahavai Shalom Cemetery. Contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to Cedar Sinai Park.
