Gordon John Minkoff, of Knappa, died on Aug. 15, 2018, at Community Hospice Center in Longview, Washington. He was 84 years old.
Gordon was born on June 26, 1934, in Lodi, California, to Helen Neimi Minkoff and John Minkoff. The family moved to Clatskanie, and later settled in Knappa.
Gordon graduated from Knappa High School in 1952. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army, served in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1956.
In 1959, Gordon married June Ferguson of Knappa. They later divorced. He later married Patricia Morrell Westfall of Knappa. Patricia preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 1996.
Gordon was a logger, commercial fisherman and a pile buck, doing marine construction in Oregon, Washington state and Alaska.
Gordon enjoyed duck, deer and elk hunting. He liked to watch NASCAR.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; his sister, Evelyn Minkoff; daughter, Joni Westfall; and best friends, Al Iverson and Max Kelly.
He is survived by sons, Barry (Kim) Minkoff, of Knappa, and Bruce Minkoff, of Knappa; daughter, Tina Hutton (Duane), of Longview, Washington; daughter, Angie (John) Mabe, of Haines, Oregon; and daughter, Nikki (John) Wooldridge, of Arizona.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ryan Everson and Dustin Everson, both of Astoria, Jeremy (Monica) Mabe, of Ionia, Michigan, Kevin Mabe, of John Day, Oregon, Nick North, of Knappa, Megan North, of Astoria, and Jacob Minkoff and Ben Minkoff, both of Bend, Oregon; great-grandchildren, Lillian and Charlotte Mabe, of Ionia, Michigan, and Ciera and Emily Mabe, of John Day, Oregon; sister, Marina (Don) Kelly, of Knappa; nephews, John Kelly, of Knappa, and Ron Kelly, of Astoria; and niece, Kerri Wing, of Knappa.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m., at Knappa Prairie Cemetery, 92892 Knappa Dock Road. A luncheon will follow at the Wickiup Senior Center, 92650 Svensen Market Road.
