Worn and outdated signs along U.S. Highway 101 are set to be replaced by the Oregon Department of Transportation in an effort to increase safety and visibility for drivers.

Starting next week, sign replacement will begin at the Old Youngs Bay Bridge before crews move on to the Astoria Bridge and finish with the New Youngs Bay Bridge.

“If all goes well and weather isn’t too bad, then it will start this coming Sunday night,” ODOT spokesperson David House told The Astorian in an email.

House said that the project is estimated at $470,000 for both design and construction and is expected to be finished sometime during 2025.
