Elk take to the gridiron

Elk take the field in Seaside.

Some North Coast residents likely played in family football games Thursday. A herd of elk may have wanted to join the competition as well.

Dozens of elk sat on the Seaside High School football field Thursday afternoon as U.S. Highway 101 drivers pulled over to snap photos. The elk appeared to leave droppings on the field and the track surrounding it.

“Is this unusual?” said Cherry Horton, who was visiting South County from Seattle. “This is incredible.”
