The Daily Astorian, Astoria, Oregon

Press Operator: The Daily Astorian (Monday through Friday, circ. 8,500) in Astoria, Ore. is seeking an experienced press operator. We print an array of weekly, bi-weekly and monthly publications using two Tensor T-1400 full-color towers along with Goss Community units and a Kodak TrendSetter Computer-to-Plate system. Excellent mechanical and communication skills required, along with attention to detail. The press crew consists of only three people, so we need a versatile employee who is reliable, can take-charge if needed but is willing to do whatever is needed to get the job done.  This is a full-time, Monday through Friday morning shift, with benefits including paid time off, health insurance and a retirement plan. Reporter: This is your chance to be part of dynamic, family-owned media company and report on some of the most pressing natural resources issues in the Pacific Northwest as well as general assignments in Umatilla and Morrow counties. We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced reporter at East Oregonian, one of Oregon's best small daily newspapers located in northeastern Oregon. This position will work out of our Hermiston bureau in Eastern Oregon's largest town, near historic Pendleton where the newspaper is based and printed. You will be expected to report with confidence and appeal on the following topics that impact our readers: agriculture, forestry, coal exports, wind energy, use of Columbia River water, salmon, wolves and other wildlife issues. Experience with multimedia and digital devices is essential. Journalism degree and extensive reporting experience is required. Umatilla County is located between the Blue Mountains and the Columbia River, with abundant outdoor recreation. It is also a farming and ranching center and home to the famous Pendleton Round-Up.
