Every college-age student who feels very tired thinks they must have mono, but very few of them actually do.

Persistent fatigue can be caused by a long list of problems, including chronic lack of sleep, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, iron deficiency anemia, autoimmune diseases and hypothyroidism. Often, no medical cause can be found for fatigue.
