Ballots will be in the mail this month for a Feb. 3 special election on Measure 30. A yes vote on Measure 30 would confirm a revenue package passed by the 2003 Legislature that includes a temporary income tax surcharge. A no vote would repeal that package.

To help North Coast voters clarify their options, Citizens for Oregon's Future will give an illustrated slide presentation on Oregon's tax and budget system and identify options for change at a free workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Astoria Senior Center, 1111 Exchange St.

The workshop, sponsored by the American Association of University Women and the North Coast Women's Caucus, is open to the public and all points of view are welcome. There is no fee, but preregistration is requested to ensure that adequate materials will be available. To preregister, call Arline LaMear at 338-6883.

Citizens for Oregon's Future is a statewide coalition based in Portland that advocates for changes in Oregon's tax and budget systems to provide adequate funding for public services.
