Shelby Dursse of Astoria was among the 64 students who were awarded a total of more than $445,00 in scholarships by the nonprofit Coast Guard Foundation’s college scholarship program, which supports the higher education goals of enlisted Coast Guard members’ children.

Dursse, is the daughter of Boatswain's Mate Chief Petty Officer Martin Leo Dursse, USCG Ret. A recent graduate of Astoria High School, where she was on the student council for four years, she is a member of the National Honor Society and volunteers in the community and for her church. She is attending Gonzaga University, where she intends to study psychology.
