The Astoria Chapter of the American Association of University Women will sponsor a reception at 7 p.m. March 15 at Clatsop Community College, Columbia Hall, in honor of 100 Astoria women who have contributed to the community for more than 200 years. The public is welcome and encouraged to come and join the celebration.

The list of these women was inspired by the bicentennial and compiled by AAUW members. It includes women who were the first to attain a place of power or perform a service previously held or done only by men, who performed significant volunteer services for Astoria or who are being recognized for their educational, professional, political and/or writing contributions. It is anticipated that many of the women named in the list will attend the reception.
