Donald and Dorothy McCoy, of Eugene, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 22, 2004, at the Eugene Country Club.

The couple met and married in Colorado Springs, Colo. They returned to Indiana University, where Donald completed his bachelor's degree in business and his master's in education. They moved to Oregon in 1958.

Dorothy was a teller for First National Bank, and customer service representative for NW Natural Gas until she retired in 1990.

Donald taught school in Eddyville and Junction City. He was the principal of Junction City High School as well as district superintendent. The couple moved to the North Coast in 1975, where he was superintendent of the Warrenton-Hammond School District until he retired in 1987.

The McCoys have four daughters and three sons-in-law, Dee Ann McCoy of Portland, Bonnie McCoy and Barry Barber of Portland, Linda and James Barber of Ashland and Donna and Terry Gent of Eugene; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
