It’s Purple Pinky Sunday at Astoria Sunday Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Oregon Coast Rotarians will staff a booth at the market to raise awareness and funds for Rotary International’s pledge to eradicate polio worldwide.

This has been a 25-year effort, and Rotary is close to completing its goal, with only three countries needing the life-saving polio vaccine: Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Rotarians will paint pinky fingers using purple nail polish or ink on those who donate at the market to promote Rotary’s goal for a polio-free world. Rotary Clubs participating in the program include Astoria, Seaside and Warrenton in Oregon and Southwest Pacific County Peninsula Rotary in Washington.
