CANNON BEACH - Best-selling author Susan Vreeland will give a presentation, "Artemisia Gentileschi: The Extraordinary Woman Behind the Brush," and book signing at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at the Coaster Theater Playhouse, 108 N. Hemlock.

This event is co-sponsored by the Cannon Beach Arts Association and Clatsop Community College's Arts and Ideas program. Vreeland is a New York Times Best-selling author of "Girl in Hyacinth Blue," and she will present her latest book, "The Passion of Artemesia." Vreeland has been featured on "CBS Sunday Morning" in connection with a recent interest in Artemisia Gentileschi. The Cannon Beach Book Company will provide copies of both books for sale and there will be a signing session directly after Vreeland's presentation.

Using imagery to help illustrate her presentation, Vreeland will talk about conditions for female painters in Italy and for Artemisia Gentileschi in particular. She will also relate the differences between historical fiction and biography.

Admission to the presentation is $10. No Gold Cards or group rates will be accepted for this presentation. Season ticket packages and supporting memberships will include a $4 off coupon to this event.
