The opening reception for the Group Show: Recent Paintings by Royal Nebeker and His Summer Painting Workshop is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the Clatsop Community College Art Center Gallery, 17th Street and Lexington Avenue.
Meet Royal Nebeker and the students of his summer painting workshop and see their new work. The exhibit runs through Oct. 1.
Nebeker heads the art department at Clatsop Community College and has been with the institution for decades. Having earned a master of fine arts in printmaking from Kunst og Haandverk Skole, Olso, Norway, he has also studied in Germany and Japan. With an extensive exhibition record both nationally and abroad, his work has been included in many prestigious shows, including a recent exhibit at the Louvre in Paris. Mr. Nebeker's artwork is part of collections that include National Gallery, Krakow, Poland; Tamarind Institute; IBM; University of New Mexico; Portland Art Museum and Seattle Art Museum. The White Bird Gallery in Cannon Beach represents Royal Nebeker locally on a regular basis.
The Art Center Gallery is open this summer from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Shows at the gallery are free and open to the public.
