CANNON BEACH - Yes, but is it art?

Coaster Theatre Playhouse, 108 N. Hemlock St., presents a "funny, moving and fiendishly clever" play called "Art," the 1998 Tony winner for Best Play.

Directed by Victoria Parker and featuring Donald Conner, Frank Jagodnik and Winston Laszlo, the play concerns a man who pays a small fortune for a painting that is, essentially, all white. He and his friends disagree whether it should be called art, and the bonds of friendship are tested as much as the definition of art.

"Art" opens Jan. 28 with a champagne reception following the performance. It runs through Feb. 19, playing Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 3 p.m. Feb. 13. Tickets are $14, $15 and $16, with a special opening-night price of $12. For tickets and information, call Pat at (503) 436-1242.
