CANNON BEACH - The Coaster Theatre Playhouse, 108 N. Hemlock St., presents a readers theater production of Ivan Menchell's comedy, "The Cemetery Club," Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17 and 18. Theater doors open at 7:30 p.m. and shows start at 8 p.m.

The play is about three Jewish widows who meet once a month to visit their husbands' graves. Ida is sweet-tempered and ready to begin a new life. Lucille is a feisty embodiment of the girl who just wants to have fun. Doris is priggish and judgmental, particularly when Sam the butcher enters the scene. He meets the widows while visiting his wife's grave, and a romance begins to unfold between him and Ida. Doris and Lucille do not react well to this new development. What follows is a funny, bittersweet and moving tale of old friends.

Directed by Craig Shepherd, the cast includes Carol Denny, Pia Holm, Libby Allen, Don Conner and Jackie Weber. Tickets are $8 for open seating. For reservations, call the box office at (503) 436-1242.
