Local show unique petsLocals Jean Phelan and Donald Coffman of Seaside present the 23rd annual Unique Animal and Pet Fair, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 25 and 26 at Washington County Fairgrounds in Hillsboro. Exhibits include birds, reptiles, unique mammals and a petting zoo. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for seniors and children ages 5 to 12.
Phelan, the event organizer, has lived in the Seaside area all her life. She owns a kennel and grooming business. Coffman, a 12-year resident of the area, is the show manager.

Sustainable living class setClatsop Community College is offering a discussion course on sustainable living. The course was developed by the Northwest Earth Institute of Portland. Classes will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Seaside South County Center and 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Astoria main campus every Thursday through Nov. 18 . The class is free. The cost of the book is $16.
