Hand2Mouth Theatre presents its new work, "Thirst," at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 1 at the River Theater, 230 W. Marine Drive in Astoria.

"Thirst" takes audiences into a mythical world where two women wrestle with their gifts and their demons, ricocheting between joy and terror, creation and destruction, wind and fire, defiance and madness. Inspired by the meteoric lives of Isadora Duncan and Zelda Fitzgerald, and by tales of wayward water nymphs, firebirds and goddesses, "Thirst" is filled with movement, song and imagery.

Hand2Mouth is an association of performers, composers and visual/media artists from eclectic backgrounds and disciplines. Working together in unusual combinations, they bring emotionally complex stories to an expansive audience.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $7 for seniors and students, and are available at the River Theater's box office, on the Web at www.RiverTheater.com or at the Community Store, 14th and Commercial streets. Doors open at 7 p.m.
