Astoria Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution congratulate Zach Gerards and Lily Weber, fourth graders at East Elementary School in Tillamook, for placing first in the Junior American Citizens contest in the chapter, District 1 and on the Oregon state level.

Gerards won in the creative expression category and Weber for a poem. They received recognition at the DAR State Convention held in Corvallis May 18-20. Josi Riggert, also in the same fourth-grade class, placed second at the state level for a poem.

Ben Purcell, a senior at Neah-kah-nie High School, placed second on the state level and first on both the Chapter and District 1 level, in the Good Citizen essay contest.
