Five North Coast high school students have been chosen to represent the North Coast for the 2011 Astoria Regatta Association. They join 2010 Queen Rachel Tadei of Knappa High School. 

Jessica Helligso, daughter of Shawn and Miranda Helligso, is a junior attending Astoria High School. She is a member of Business Leaders of Tomorrow and chairman of the Business Person of the Month Award. She has been on the AHS Dance Team for three years, serving as captain this year, and lettered as a freshman. Helligso has been involved with the Little Ballet Theater Company through Maddox Dance Studio for six years, and is now a senior member of the group. She has performed in "The Nutcracker" for eight years, and has been in the group that danced during the Regatta Rose Ceremony twice. She volunteers at the Warrenton Head Start program. During the summer she worked at Astoria Sunday Market and is now employed with RE/MAX River & Sea in Astoria.

Rebecca Alfaro, daughter of Greg and Joni Alfaro, is a junior at AHS. She is a member of the girl's soccer team and has lettered in the sport twice. She is a member of the swim team, lettering twice, and was chosen for all-league and all-state in swimming. She is activities manager for the Spanish Club and a member of Key Club and Business Leaders of Tomorrow. Alfaro has volunteered with SOUP-er Bowl and Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat canned food drives and the Youth Group Food Bank Christmas Basket. She has been a Camp Believe Girl's Soccer Leader, involved in a "Coffee Club" church group and is a Vacation Bible School leader. She has worked at the Garment Gallery as a sales clerk and as a babysitter. She currently works as a lifeguard at the Astoria Aquatic Center.

McKenzie Peters, daughter of Jerry and Renee Painter, is a junior at Seaside High School. She is a member of the jazz and honor choirs, and has lettered twice in choir. She received the Scholar Musician Achievement Award and has had a leading role in musical plays at SHS for three years. This year she had a major role in the play "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," playing the part of Snoopy. Peters is also involved with Upward Bound and the Key Club, and she plays softball. She has worked at Subway in Seaside, and now is on call at Pizza A' Fetta in Cannon Beach, where she works as a waitress.

Meg Dowaliby, daughter of Todd and Dixie Dowaliby, is a junior at Warrenton High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, serving currently as historian. She is secretary of Future Educators of America, a member of the student council and junior class co-manager of WHS concessions. She participated in varsity cross country and was chosen most inspirational team member. Dowaliby is a member of the Warrenton choir, is an honor choir representative, and was chosen to represent WHS for the Oregon Ambassadors of Music European Tour. She has helped with bottle tagging on New Year's Eve, been part of a task force against bullies, helped at the Astoria Regatta Association Regatta Square and served at the Warrenton Hall of Fame Dinner Fundraiser. A member of the Viking Nordic Dance Group, in 2002 she was chosen Junior Miss Sweden representing Vasa Lodge No. 215. She is a member of the 4-H Black Sheep Club, sings in the church choir, has participated in the Thanksgiving Baskets for families in need, and is a teacher's assistant for the Warrenton First Baptist Vacation Bible School and Warrenton Grade School. She models for Muse Models of Portland, dog sits and babysits.

Bethany Workman, daughter of Mathew and Tessy Workman, is a junior attending WHS. She is on the honor roll and has participated in track, where she has lettered. She is a People to People Ambassador and has volunteered for several activities for local police departments. She has worked on the food drive for the local food bank, and was an altar server for St. Mary's Catholic Church. In the past, she has worked at the Black Bear Coffee in Vernonia, and is now working as a courtesy clerk for Fred Meyer in Warrenton and as a sales associate for Zumiez in Seaside.

Throughout the season, the court will be attending parades, giving speeches and making appearances. Escort and chaperone for the court will be Don and Teresa Accuardi. The theme of this year's Regatta is "Happy 200th Birthday Astoria!" The festival will take place Aug. 11-14.
