SEAVIEW, Wash. - Miriam Atkins leads a Small Group Focusing Workshop Sept. 16 through 18 at the Sou'Wester Lodge.

Atkins studied with Dr. Eugene Gendlin and his colleagues at the University of Chicago, and became a certified Focusing teacher 25 years ago.

Focusing is a gentle process which teaches practitioners to be with themselves in a patient, nurturing, nonjudgmental way, Atkins explained. "We learn to get in touch with how we feel inside in relation to specific issues we would like to address." Through this inward journey, Focusing releases its practitioners to trust and honor their own inner senses and wisdom, and to move on with their lives with more insight and understanding, Atkins said.

The workshop includes group work, individual work and exercises. Tuition is $185, with discounts for repeat attendees and those staying at the Sou'Wester.

For information, e-mail Atkins at or call her at (360) 642-2542. There is no obligation to participate.
